Bio

Garrett is a solo performer of Blues and Rock.  He is also the band leader, guitarist and a primary songwriter for Rock band Prisoners of Love.  He is a guitar and songwriting major at Berklee College of Music in Boston and returns to Virginia Beach in between semesters.

Garrett was born in Texas and lived in North Carolina prior to relocating to Virginia Beach. He played several different instruments in his youth as well as singing in a community choir.  He played piano, then flirted with the violin, and tolerated the bassoon before finally discovering the guitar at age 13.

To say that Garrett enjoys playing guitar is a vast understatement.  The guitar is how Garrett expresses himself, how he processes his thoughts, and how he communicates his feelings.  Members of his audience have commented frequently that they feel an instant connection to Garrett when he plays and that his emotions speak to them through his music.

When Garrett is not playing with Prisoners of Love, he has gained a local following in area open mic nights.  He particularly enjoys playing with other musicians and the challenge of finding common ground musically on only a few moment's notice.  His ability to perform in many genres and accommodate all audiences has earned him popularity with local bands who frequently invite him to sit in.
